They are used as a trademark of actors, musicians, sports figures, and other famous people. They talk about their thoughts and feelings. But how to check if quotes are with their rightful owners?
There are thousands of quotes and memes sites out there. One of the most popular quote image sources on the internet is Google Images as well as Pinterest. The words help the reader to understand a situation better. A knowledge of quotes and memes is important to be successful in business. You will want to use them in your presentations and speeches to convince people and win over clients. Quotes or memes have been around for centuries and have been used as long as there has been writing. You might be familiar with some of the popular quotes that are known to resonate with most, if not all of us, such as ‘There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so’ by Shakespeare. Others you might know include, ‘Be the change that you wish to see in the world’ by Gandhi and many more like them.
According to an online dictionary, a quote is defined as an expression or remark illustrating some particular point; a pertinent utterance. Meme, on the other hand, is defined as ‘an amusing or interesting item (such as a captioned picture or video) or genre of items that is spread widely online’. Or put more simply, memes are used for sharing inspirations, life lessons and quotes.

In your daily social media browsing, you likely came across a fake quote or meme. With our ever-growing reliance on information and knowledge-sharing networks on the internet, it is not surprising that fake quotes and memes are also gaining traction online. In fact, over the last decade, studies have shown that there has been a significant increase in the creation of fake quotes and memes. Fake quotes are a big problem. Search on Google and you’ll find thousands of fake quotes and memes, many of which spread to people’s social media feeds unknowingly. We’ve searched the internet for mass amounts of meme and quote images, filtered out those that were likely to be real, and then compared those that were left with a database of legitimate quotes – we’ve put in more time than the researchers at NASA. Quotes are everywhere these days. People post quotes on Instagram and Twitter, add gibberish memes to their photos in Facebook (and to be honest, I admire your creativity), and there is even a special place on Reddit called r/QuotePorn/ where people just share visually appealing quotes.
